Elevate Addiction Services’ inpatient treatment commences right after detox and constitutes 3 main phases of our entire rehabilitation program. After detox, the three phases of inpatient treatment comprise approximately 90 days. What then follows is a fourth and final phase, discharge planning and aftercare, which will be an ongoing process.
Elevate offers its exceptional inpatient drug rehab programs in two Northern California locations: one near Santa Cruz and the other in South Lake Tahoe. Our inpatient programs are highly customized for each client so that they can work toward recovery at their own pace and participate in activities and therapies that best advance their physical and mental health.
Here are what the three phases of inpatient treatment at Elevate consist of:
Phase 1: Physical and Mental Healing
The first phase of inpatient treatment at Elevate has a heavy focus on regenerating the body and the psychological and emotional aspects of addiction. Substance abuse often leaves the user physically weak, and either underweight or overweight. It also creates chemical imbalances in the body that are hard to overcome. So during this first phase of treatment, it’s time to start changing all of that and recognizing why it is important to aim for balance.
In this physical healing stage, we slowly intensify clients’ exercise regimens, which they usually begin toward the end of detox. Additionally, we continue their vitamin, mineral and amino acid regimens, which also began during the detox stage. Nutrition is heavily emphasized during this time, as it is during all phases of our treatment program.
Clients practice mindfulness to quiet their mind and separate themselves from their racing thoughts. They then begin to look at themselves and their addictive behaviors with a fresh set of eyes, with guidance from one-on-one therapists and staff counselors. Clients begin the process of seeing what went wrong in their lives and begin to spot how their decisions led them down a road they never intended to go.
Phase 2: Building Life Skills and Learning Tools
Skills such as Radical Acceptance help an individual to recognize one's life as it is, without becoming upset about it. By learning to assess life, applying tools such as analysis and positive communication, clients can practice dealing with difficulties in ways that lead to a much better result.
People in one’s life are also evaluated at this point and the clients recognize who they may need to stay away from, and (more importantly) who they must keep in close connection with because they are literally the ones who are their strongest supporters. The clients start to put together what life should look like if one were living a balanced and positive life, then start setting reachable goals to get there.
Phase 3: Addressing and Overcoming Core Negative Issues
Phase 3 of treatment at Elevate predominantly consists of treatment aimed at getting to the root causes of addiction, overcoming urges to relapse, and discover what is missing in life that drugs are used to try to fill. Although clients continue working out and other physical activities during this time, this is when we ramp up not only holistic therapy but cutting-edge clinical treatment.
During the inpatient treatment at Elevate, clinically the client will participate in:
- Daily educational group sessions that designed to be lively, empowering and enlightening.
- One-on-one counseling sessions that aren’t intended to discover what’s wrong with the client, but instead help lead him or her on a path to self-realization.
- Family counseling sessions where the client and his or her family work through upsetting past situations. This is also where we start developing a post-treatment plan for the client.
- Discharge and aftercare planning that is thoughtful and careful.
Throughout this time, clinical staff utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients solve current problems and change old patterns of thinking and behavior. The idea is to look at future goals with a fresh site of eyes and instill positive confidence and optimism towards life again. This bodes well for clients as they progress toward graduation and returning home from our program as a sober, changed individuals.
